Where to Find Voice Settings
- Go to dinevate.com and log in with your owner account.
- Open your Merchant Dashboard.
- In the left sidebar, click "Dinevate Voice AI", then "Settings".
The Settings hub shows four cards:
- Phone Numbers — Get a new phone number or port your existing one. Covered in the Phone Numbers guide.
- Voice Settings — Customize how your AI assistant sounds and when it's available. That's this guide.
- Documentation & FAQ — Built-in guides and answers to common questions.
- Billing & Plan — View your invoices and payment history.
Click "Configure" on the Voice Settings card to open the main settings page. When you're done making changes, always click "Save Voice Settings" at the bottom — you'll see a green "Settings Saved Successfully!" confirmation when it's applied.
Turning the AI On or Off
At the top of Voice Settings is the master switch: "AI Voice Assistant".
- On — The AI answers calls and takes orders automatically.
- Off — All calls are forwarded directly to your restaurant, exactly like before you had Voice. Nothing is lost — flip it back on whenever you're ready.
Tip: You don't need to turn the AI off for a busy night or a private event — it can handle any number of calls at once. Turn it off only if you truly want humans answering every call.
On the tablet: The owner can also pause or resume the AI from the Dinevate Voice AI page on the Order Manager tablet — handy when you're not at a computer.
Choose a Voice
Under "Choose a Voice" you'll see a set of voices your AI can speak with. Each card has a play button — tap it to hear a short sample of that voice before choosing.
The available voices:
| Voice | Style | |---|---| | Carina | Confident & friendly (the default) | | Ara | Warm & friendly | | Eve | Energetic & upbeat | | Helix | Energetic & bright | | Rex | Confident & clear | | Sal | Smooth & balanced | | Leo | Authoritative & strong | | Luna | Mature & composed | | Celeste | Gentle & warm | | Ursa | Calm & steady | | Helios | Warm & welcoming |
Pick whichever fits your restaurant's personality — a bright, upbeat voice for a fast-casual spot, or a calm, composed one for fine dining.
Talking Speed
The "Talking Speed" slider controls how quickly your AI cashier speaks, from Calm to Brisk. The default sits slightly on the brisk side, which most callers find natural for ordering. If your customers tend to be older or your menu names are long, nudge it toward Calm.
Greeting Message
The "Greeting Message" is the first thing callers hear. The default is:
"Thanks for calling your restaurant! How can I help you today?"
You can write your own — keep it short and warm. There are quick suggestion buttons below the box you can tap to start from, like "Thanks for calling! Pickup or delivery?"
Tip: Don't pack your greeting with information (hours, specials, addresses). Callers just want to start talking — the AI can answer all those questions naturally when asked.
Payments: Accept Cash on Pickup
Under "Payments" is the switch "Accept Cash on Pickup":
- On (the default) — Callers can choose cash or a card link for pickup orders. Delivery is always paid by card.
- Off — Cash is off; every order is paid through the secure card link sent by text.
Turn cash off if unpaid pickup orders that never get collected are a problem for you — with cash off, every order is paid before your kitchen starts it.
Let Callers Change a Just-Placed Order
People forget things. With "Let Callers Change a Just-Placed Order" turned on (the default), a caller who phones right back — "I forgot the fries!" — can change or cancel their order for up to 10 minutes after placing it. Extra items are charged to the card they used, and removed items are refunded automatically. After 10 minutes, the AI transfers them to your staff instead.
Turned off, any change request is transferred straight to your restaurant.
Suggest Add-Ons During Orders
With "Suggest Add-Ons During Orders" turned on (the default), after a caller adds an item the AI may suggest one add-on that pairs well with it — "want a 2-liter with that?" — based on what your customers actually order together. It's one gentle offer, never pushy, and never repeated after a "no."
Turned off, the AI takes the order exactly as given and never suggests extras.
Tip: Leave this on. It's the phone version of a good counter employee asking "anything to drink with that?" — and it quietly grows your average order.
Priority Access
"Move My Calls to the Front of the Line" gives your calls the fastest response speed we offer, so the AI replies with almost no pause at all. This is a premium option with an additional cost — the details are shown right next to the switch before you turn it on, and you can turn it off anytime.
Operating Hours: When the AI Answers
The "Operating Hours" section decides when your AI picks up.
- "Match Restaurant Hours" (the default) — The AI answers during your regular business hours. It reads your hours from Restaurant Settings → Opening Hours, so keep those up to date.
- Turn Match Restaurant Hours off to set custom hours instead — a weekly grid where each day gets its own Open and Close times, a 24 Hours switch, or a Closed switch.
Then decide what happens outside those hours:
- "Forward When Closed" — When on, calls outside AI hours are sent to your restaurant's phone. When off, the AI politely explains you're closed.
Want 24/7 ordering? Set the AI to 24 hours and it can take orders even while you're closed — customers order at midnight, you make it for next-day pickup. Late-night calls stop being missed calls.
Settings That Live Outside the Voice Section
A few things your AI can do are controlled by other parts of your dashboard:
- Reservations by phone — The AI can only book tables if Reservations is enabled on your Reservations page. See the Reservations guide.
- Catering requests — Controlled by "Enable Catering Requests" on your Catering page.
- Your menu — The AI always sells your live Dinevate menu. Update your menu and the AI knows the change immediately — see Managing Your Menu.
- Opening hours — Set in Restaurant Settings; they drive both your website and the AI's "Match Restaurant Hours" mode.
The Transfer (Fallback) Number
When a caller asks for a person, or the AI runs into something it can't handle, the call is transferred to your fallback number — the staff phone you entered during setup. Make sure that phone is one your team actually answers during service.
Need to change your fallback number? Open a case in your Support Center and we'll update it for you right away.
